Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Bermuda and southern Florida, USA to Bahia in Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits sandy areas and seagrass beds, usually bathed by clear, oceanic waters. Feeds on small fish and invertebrates (Ref. 42064).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 August 2011 Ref. (119314)
Threat to humans:  harmless
